Casa Familiar, a 501(c)3, was founded with a commitment to enhance the quality of life for the community through education, advocacy, service programming, housing, art and community economic development. Casa has developed and invested in over 1,100 affordable housing and mixed-used development projects in South San Diego County. It operates five community service centers that provide recreation, education, technology access, and youth development and job training in the San Ysidro community. Annually, Casa serves 8,000-10,000 low-income residents, students, youth, families, seniors and individuals through Social Services, Education and Arts & Culture programming.

Casa is developing the Living Rooms at the Boarder project in San Ysidro’s Historic neighborhood. Living Rooms is a service inclusive, community-oriented, 10-unit affordable housing & economic development project including the adaptive re-use of a vacant dilapidated church. Living Rooms will enable Casa, and partners such as University of California San Diego, to expand the delivery of job training, performing arts, education, and immigration services.  Living Rooms is centrally located along San Ysidro’s cultural arts corridor and will connect the San Diego Trolley Beyer Station to San Ysidro Boulevard.

"Kyle Walton's expertise and guidance on New Markets Tax Credits made the daunting feel attainable. Casa Familiar's 'Living Rooms at the Border' project will have a transformative impact for the entire San Ysidro Community. Mr. Walton's ability to connect and understand the vision and creativity of our project was key to our success.  Casa's passion for community and Kyle's willingness to share his expertise has brought a new energy and momentum not only for the community but for our 37-year-old nonprofit organization. With great confidence I recommend Classic Lake Consulting to help advance community benefit projects, especially in underserved communities."
